Cardboard Caving

Hello Friendssss

Hello Friendsssss

For those who don’t know me, I’m Basil. Basil the Basilisk. Masssscot of 66th Bath (Wesssston Village) Ssssscout Group – by far the most important member of the team! I’m really excited, because i’ve just found out that Cardboard Caving is back again this year!

The leaderssss have just told me that they’re going to be building a new Cardboard Home for me again this October Half Term, and better still, some of the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts have been busy sssssuggesting themes for the different caves.

This year the whole cave complex is themed around children’s literature, and, whilst travelling around the caves, we’ll be visiting:

  • Narnia
  • The Jungle Book
  • Wonderland
  • Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
  • Tiggerland (our very own take on Winnie the Pooh)
  • The Hobbit
  • The Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter)

All of this is being build from cardboard, timber and recycled materials in our Ssssscout Hall in Weston. Over half term, there are chances for young people and their parents to get involved in the build stages, and then the week after half term young people from all over the surroundnig area are coming to meet me… i mean to explore the cave!

If you’re interested in helping with the build, please email gsl@westonscouts.org.uk to get more details!

During the next few weeks i’ll be busy typing (which is quite difficult without any fingers) my blog posts, so dont forget to keep checking what we’re up to.I can’t wait to meet loads of new people over the coming weeks!

There’s something you can do to help me too! I really like putting snake jokes into my blog posts, but i really dont know enough. If you know any good snake jokes please let me know? You can email me via Dan and Jodi (GSL@westonscouts.org.uk) or tweet them to @westonscouts #cave17

To get things started, here’s one of my favourites:

What do you call a snake who likes to build things?

A Boa Constructor!
